Happy Birthday, Maryellen! My Maryellen with Mini Maryellen and my mom's Maryellen (Christmas dress) posed for a few quick pics before a rain shower started.

I just wanted to take a moment to tell all of you how thankful I am for your love and support of my doll collection as well as Cherished Playtime and all the other sites linked to it. I love sharing my collection through photos, videos, crafts and more and I hope that they inspire others in their doll play.
Whether you've been a fan since Cherished's beginning, ten years ago, or have stumbled upon this site more recently, thank you for being a fan! From my dolls and me to you and your dolls, we hope that you have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving! I have added a new section to the site which can be found under Your Doll Play. This is a section that I have been wanting to add to the site for years now but for some reason or another I hadn't gotten around to. Nevertheless I've added it now! The new section is called Doll Play Ideas and as the title suggests, it is where you'll be able to find ideas for activities and events that you can do with your dolls. The first activity that you can do with your dolls is to set up a Mending Basket as part of their chores. It's a perfect chore for them to do on a rainy day so that they can take an item that has started to wear out and fix it up again. "Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without." ~Boyd K. Packer. I have finally begun to reorganize and re-add old photos of the Merriman household to the website! In doing so, I have again started to think about whether or not I want to eventually move the entire website over the Weebly or whether to keep most of it on another host. There are pros and cons to both choices, and if I move the whole site over, I will have to think of how I will best do that (ie, do I move just Cherished Playtime or do I move all three of my websites so that they can all stay under the same domain name)...
While I think about this some more, I decided to try uploading the 2005-2012 Merriman photos as Weebly pages and maybe start integrating more Weebly ones into the site. Sometimes decisions like this are hard when you have such a large site as Cherished is (over 80 pages, I believe!) as if I move everything over, it will definitely take a lot of time to do so since I would have to re-upload every photo on the site, as well as everything else. Anyway, for now, you can enjoy many old Merriman Household photos. They are grouped as 2005-2008 Photos and 2009-2012 Photos. The pages may take a few moments to load so please be patient while the pictures load and enjoy! Hi there! I hope your 2016 is going pretty well so far. Today I have a new hairstyle for you to try on your dolls. It's called Braid Within A Braid and it can be found on the Star Valley Salon page under the Your Doll Play section. I saw this hairstyle in a Spring/Summer American Girl catalog last year so thought that I would make a tutorial on how to do it. This style work best on dolls with medium or long hair; I was able to do it on my mom's JLY #30, Nancy, as well so it should work on most dolls with layered hair (at least the actual braid part). I've included both photo/text instructions as well as a video tutorial. There are different variations you can try, such as a Braid Within a Braid down the back or a ponytail/pigtails with a Braid Within a Braid. This tutorial shows you how to make one on each side and then tie them back behind your doll's head. Let me know if you try this style on your dolls. Use #cpbraidwithinabraid to share photos of your dolls wearing this style. Happy Dolliday Jubilee! Yesterday, Kirsten Larson had to get up very early so that she could make her family a special breakfast of Saint Lucia Buns and coffee. While the breakfast was cooking, Kirsten quietly dressed into her long white gown, red sash and the beautiful wreath with glowing candles. She then finished cooking the breakfast and prepared everything on a tray. In the darkness, Saint Lucia's candles glew as she welcomed her family to breakfast and welcomed winter and the Christmas season. Here are is a brand new video of Kirsten getting ready to play Saint Lucia, as well as new photos on the 2015 Larson Photo Page. What are some of your favorite holiday traditions? Happy December everyone! The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is getting underway. If you're looking for a beautiful, unique ornament to decorate your tree with, check out the new 2015 Cherished Playtime Ornaments! There are two different choices and each ornament is $5 plus $4 shipping. $1 from each ornament will also be donated to the Make a Wish Foundation of America. These ornaments are perfect for any doll lover and make great gifts as well! The dolls of Star Valley are busy preparing for Hanukkah which is going on right now, as well as for Christmas! There are still plenty of decorations to be put up and gifts to wrap. The children are getting ready for concerts at school and for the town Nativity play and the residents are also gearing up for the Winter Festival! Tonight I have new photos of the Cohen, Adams and Larkin family decorating their apartment for Hanukkah and Christmas! Maryellen June Larkin, who moved to Star Valley in October to live with her cousins, Shirley and Mischa, convinced them to get a new pink Christmas Tree. She wanted to bring a bit of her Daytona Beach Christmas with her by having a pink tree like the one her family has at home. Shirley and Mischa loved the idea and the three of them quickly picked out the perfect tree. Hello everyone! Albeit slowly, I am trying to update various pages on the website. There are so many that I've yet to tackle but I hope to work on them when I have time! Tonight I have some new photos of the Adams and Cohen household for you. These photos are from 2013 as well as 2014 and 2015. Enjoy! Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! I posted some new photos of the Edwards family, from last year and this year. You can check them out on the Edwards Bio page, under 2012-2015 Photos.
Included in the photos are four that fit perfectly with today! Samantha and Aunt Cornelia had fun making some Valentines for their family and friends. It's time for the fifth Dolliday Jubilee update (only two more to go!) Tonight I have a new section on the website to share-the Fan Gallery, which you can find on the Your Doll Play section, above! Every few months I hope to change the theme of the gallery and feature doll photos from YOU-the fans of Cherished Playtime and dolls! So without further ado, check out these awesome pics of dolls having fun celebrating holidays and enjoying some winter fun! PS. If you'd like to submit a photo for the Valentine themed gallery, please email me your first name, your photo (file or link) and a caption to go with it. Submissions due by February 8th, 2015. |
